White label product

product that is manufactured by one company and sold to other companies which they then repackage as their own. This type of product is often manufactured through mass production. For example, a supermarket with a private label brand of laundry detergent may have purchased the product from an outside manufacturer and be selling it as a white label product.

Human Blood

Blood is a specialized body fluid. It has four main components: plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Blood has many different functions, including:
  • transporting oxygen and nutrients to the lungs and tissues
  • forming blood clots to prevent excess blood loss
  • carrying cells and antibodies that fight infection
  • bringing waste products to the kidneys and liver, which filter and clean the blood
  • regulating body temperature
The blood that runs through the veins, arteries, and capillaries is known as whole blood, a mixture of about 55 percent plasma and 45 percent blood cells. About 7 to 8 percent of your total body weight is blood. An average-sized man has about 6 litres of blood in his body, and an average-sized woman has about 5 litres.

Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is really just that- the pressure at which blood moves around the body in your arteries. The easiest and least invasive way to test what that pressure is at any given moment is to momentarily stop the flow of blood and then slowly allow it to begin again. The pressure at which it begins to flow is the highest pressure the blood exerts on your artery walls.
Medical professionals do this by using a blood pressure meter known as a Sphygmomanometer .They encircle a limb, usually an arm, with a balloon-like device known as a blood pressure cuff. While pumping the cuff up, they use a stethoscope to listen for your heart beat past where the cuff is cutting off blood flow. When they no longer hear your heart beating, they slowly release the pressure while watching the pressure gauge.
When they start to hear your heart beat again, this is the top number of your blood pressure, known as your systolic pressure. They continue to release the pressure until they once again, no longer hear the heart beating, this is the bottom number of your blood pressure, known as your diastolic pressure. Together these numbers tell them two things: the pressure that is inside your arteries between heartbeats (the bottom number) and the pressure inside your arteries when your heart squeezes (the top number).

Philtrum & Cupid's bow

Philtrum - The vertical groove below the nose and above the upper lip.

The line of the upper lip is known as Cupid's bow for its resemblance to the shape of a bow.

Dog tags

Need for Dog Tags

  • Due to the mass numbers of American casualties during the Civil War, soldiers and their superiors wanted men to be identified when they were killed. So soldiers began to fashion their own IDs out of symbols, pieces of wood or metal coins so that when their bodies were found, they would be buried in a way they desired and their military superiors, loved ones and family would know they were killed. This is still one of the primary uses for dog tags today among soldiers in the military, and they are usually removed and returned to the family in the event of their death.

Unconscious Identification

  • Sometimes, in the melee and madness of war, soldiers are badly wounded, knocked unconscious or are not able to communicate with doctors or other military personnel. The dog tags make it possible for them to be identified in these situations. Also, as many in the military look quite similar due to their fatigues and similar haircuts, the dog tags can be the one bit of individuality soldiers keep on them at all times.

UPC -universal product code

"UPC" stands for Universal Product Code. UPC bar codes were originally created to help grocery stores speed up the checkout process and keep better track of inventory, but the system quickly spread to all other retail products because it was so successful.

UPCs originate with a company called the Uniform Code Council(UCC). A manufacturer applies to the UCC for permission to enter the UPC system. The manufacturer pays an annual fee for the privilege. In return, the UCC issues the manufacturer a six-digit manufacturer identification number and provides guidelines on how to use it. You can see the manufacturer identification number in any standard 12-digit UPC code. The UPC symbol has two parts -
  • The machine-readable bar code
  • The human-readable 12-digit UPC number
The manufacturer identification number is the first six digits of the UPC number -- 639382 in the image above. The next five digits -- 00039 -- are the item number

Subliminal message

subliminal message (meaning, below "limen," or our conscious perception threshold) is a message embedded into images or sound meant to penetrate into our subconscious and influence our behavior. The first person to coin the term was James Vicary, a market researcher. In 1957, Vicary stated that he inserted messages into a showing of a movie in New Jersey
