Titanic & its sinking

On April 15,1912 , the purpotedly unsinkable Titanic struck an iceberg during its maiden voyage from Southampton,Englad to NewYork City . The world's largest steamship at that time  - 66,000 tons and four city blocks long - it sank within three hours , takin gmore than 1500 of its 2200 passengers with it .

Man Friday

MEANING:
noun: A man who is an efficient and faithful aide to someone.

ETYMOLOGY:
After Friday, a character in the novel Robinson Crusoe (1719) by Daniel Defoe. Crusoe named him Friday because that was the day they met. Crusoe often referred to him as his man Friday. By extension, the term girl Friday is used for a female. Earliest documented example of the word used allusively: 1809.

Hippocratic Oath

The Hippocratic Oath is an oath historically taken by physicians and other healthcare professionals swearing to practice medicine ethically. It is widely believed to have been written by Hippocrates, often regarded as the father of western medicine.
The Hippocratic Oath  is one of the most widely known of Greek medical texts. It requires a new physician to swear upon a number of healing gods that he will uphold a number of professional ethical standards.

" I swear by Apollo , Asclepius , Hygieia , and Panacea ...
and I take to witness all the gods , all the goddesses ...

I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgement and never do harm to anyone...... "
