Savanna

Although the term savanna is believed to have originally come from an Arawak word describing "land which is without trees but with much grass either tall or short" (Oviedo y Valdes, 1535), by the late 1800s it was used to mean "land with both grass and trees". It now refers to land with grass and either scattered trees or an open canopy of trees.

A savanna, or savannah, is a grassland ecosystem characterized by the trees being sufficiently small or widely spaced so that the canopy does not close. The open canopy allows sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of C4 grasses. Some classification systems[which?] also recognize a grassland savanna from which trees are absent.

Difference Between CIO & CTO

What they have in common:

•In both jobs, a key role is helping technologists understand what the business needs and helping the business understand what the technology can do for them.
•Both roles require a strong technologist with a strong grasp of business (kind of a corollary to the last point, but slightly different).
•Both should be strategic thinkers.
•Both should be excellent leaders.

Now for their differences:

•I see a CTO as primarily focused on the top line while the CIO is primarily focused on the bottom line.  There’s some cross over, but I think this is a valid distinction.
•A CTO is primarily concerned with external products and customers while a CIO is primarily concerned with running the business (internal products and customers).
•In an ideal world, the CTO runs the product development organization while the CIO runs the IT organization.
•If you have to choose, being a strong technologist is more important for the CTO, while being a good manager is more important for the CIO.
•A CIO has to be operational and understand how to build repeatable processes, reliable systems, and the organization to run them.  A CTO doesn’t necessarily have to have these skill if backed up by a strong operational person in the role of CIO.

TRIAGE

A process-management term predominantly seen in hospital and healthcare settings that can also apply to different types of business process or workflow situations. Triage refers to the practice of dividing incoming work or customers into different levels of priority so that the highest-priority issues are handled first, while lower-priority issues are stationed lower on the to-do list.

In a business setting, the concept of triage can be used to prioritize different types of work for various types of business units. In an IT department, for example, IT issues can be categorized as either emergency problems, medium-priority issues or low-priority issues. Emergency issues would command department members' attention as soon as they arrive, while medium-priority problems would be the first tasks undertaken once there were no emergency problems. Once there were no medium-priority problems, low-priority tasks would be undertaken.

TAKAFUL - Islamic Insurance

A type of Islamic insurance, where members contribute money into a pooling system in order to guarantee each other against loss or damage. Takaful-branded insurance is based on Sharia, Islamic religious law, and explains how it is the responsibility of individuals to cooperate and protect each other.

Takaful insurance companies were introduced as an alternative to commercial insurance companies, which go against the riba (interest), al-maisir (gambling), and al-gharar (uncertainty) principles, that are outlawed in Sharia.
